    Default Solitaire

Sunday, I had a visitor stop by to go over some edits I had made in a paper he had written. To pass the time while he was reading, I began playing solitaire on my laptop. He looked over my shoulder and asked to look at my stats and was very impressed that I had a 24% average win. He indicated that, with the 3 draw, he thought it was impossible for anyone to average much better than 20% and that he had never gotten higher than 17%.

Now I am not claiming that my percentage is anything exceptional. Looking on-line it appears that others who have way too much time on their hands, claim to score 30% or better.

At first I was flattered when this guy asked if he could watch me do a game or two so he could learn my technique. Then, while he looked over my shoulder he started suggesting moves and telling me how I should play. He was quite insistant that I was "doing it all wrong".

Now let me get this straight... his winning record is 17% and mine is 24%... so why am I doing it all wrong? Reminds me of some of my former clients.

So what is your best solitair score? By the way, my FreeCell percentage is currently 100%

Mine is currently 100% for solitaire and 100% for freecell, albeit my base size is small. I think I'll now give up the game since I can't get any better.

I don't do solitaire. But at home I will play hearts. I don't think it keeps a win-loss record. For relaxation I'd rather play Civilization.

Your visitor sounds like you don't want to make him your client.

I never played those MS included games, maybe minesweeper once or twice, and that 3D Pinball game that came along in Win98 more than a decade ago

I don’t play solitaire, but I play hearts, I like it.
