Automated charting

Can't believe it's been almost a year since my last posting!

Anyway, we are about to splash out on automated charting as we won a project that requires delivering 100+ identical reports. I know of e-tabs, are they any other options that we should consider?

Well, IBM SPSS Data collection has the Desktop Reporter Component wich allow automated tabulation and charting (via script). It might be a good solution for long term.

a custom macro in excel should be best way for charting, also spss desktop is good but very slow... i prefer doing in excel, it give robust flexibility

You should also look into Jasper Reports - http://www.jaspersoft.com/ . It is similar to e-tabs and is open source. If you truly just want to automate the charting work (or anything that can be done with LaTex), an R program would be a very good solution that would give you a little more flexibility in what you can produce.
