Hi Careguy,
I am not sure what you mean by marketing mix?
Are you looking to decide on how to best advertise your marketing research services an understand the impact or ??
Alternatively, are you looking to understand which media elements (TV, Radio, Print, Online attribution) should be used by an advertiser and which "mix methodology" is best?

I was wondering what the marketing mix actually means, have never heard or read it in any of the books earlier.
The marketing mix is a business tool used in Marketing Strategy products. The marketing mix is often crucial when determining a product or brand's unique selling point (the unique quality that differentiates a product from its competitors), and is often synonymous with the 'four Ps': 'price', 'product', 'promotion', and 'place'. However, in recent times, the 'four Ps' have been expanded to the 'seven Ps' with the addition of 'process', 'physical evidence' and 'people'.[1] Recently, 'four Cs' theory is also in the limelight

There are four marketing mix elements in research, also called as 4ps:
Purpose [why it is being done]
Population [The target audience, customer or player; the users or non-users]
Procedure [How should the study be conducted]
Publication [writing and presentation style]
These elements assist you to design or evaluate marketing research studies.
